To our Laguna Beach football family,
As Mr. George Floyd is laid to rest today, I want to take a moment to affirm what we stand for as Laguna Beach High School Football coaches and players. To begin, we express our deepest thoughts and condolences to the Floyd family and we hope that Mr. Floyd can rest in peace and power. As the wheels of justice begin to turn we are hopeful that our nation can start to heal from the traumatic events of the past few weeks.
As for our coaches and players we will remain vigilant in our desire to be men and women of character and to treat every human being with the respect and dignity that they deserve. The recent tragic events in Minnesota, throughout the country, and the world have shined a new light on many injustices that exist in our country. It is clear to me that this is a time for our players and coaches to listen to those who are suffering and consider their fears, anger and concerns with our deepest empathy. As a Laguna Beach football family we are committed to learning from those who have suffered injustices especially those in our African American communities.
I truly believe we have begun a new journey in our country and I am hopeful this new beginning unites people of all races and leads us to a place of peace and security for every American. As a football program we are committed to doing our part by leading with love in our hearts, respect in our eyes and the confidence to do the right thing.
